Resting in the laps of Himalayas, Pokhara lies at an altitude of more than 800 meter from sea level. The climate is sub-tropical but due to the elevation the temperatures are moderate: the summer temperatures average between 25 - 35 °C, in winter around 5 - 15 °C. At an elevation lower than Kathmandu, it has a much more tropical feel to it. Many tours and trekking operators, hotels, guest houses are here in Pokhara. One can easily find a place to sit back, relax and enjoy great meal while enjoying scenery here. Pokhara is a perfect starting place for hikers and trekkers.
